Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid or statewide travel as needed)
Position Summary
The Employee Caregiver Support Liaison (ECSL) will support the statewide network of Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and aging-services partners by developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that assist working caregivers employed by medical centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other large employers across New York State.
This two-year, grant-funded position will serve as a statewide resource, providing technical assistance, training, program development, and capacity-building to help employers better understand and support the needs of working caregivers. The ECSL will also foster partnerships between employers and community-based aging services to reduce caregiver stress, improve worker retention, and strengthen the continuum of home- and community-based supports.
Current position will be located in the Erie county area.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Assistance to Employers
- Provide guidance and consultations to medical centers, health systems, and employer HR departments on building caregiver-supportive workplace policies.
- Assist employers in developing caregiver resource guides, support programs, and internal caregiver navigation pathways.
- Advise employers on leveraging community-based services through AAAs, NY Connects, and other aging network partnerships.
- Statewide Caregiver Resource Coordination
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of New York’s aging-services network, including respite supports, home care, E-MDTs, caregiver support programs, long-term care resources, and benefits available through AAAs.
- Build and strengthen referral pathways between employers and local aging-service providers.
- Develop and maintain statewide resource materials for working caregivers.
- Program Development & Implementation
- Lead the development of scalable, evidence-informed caregiver support models that employers can adopt.
- Coordinate pilot programs with selected medical centers or health systems during the grant period.
- Create tools, templates, and best-practice guides for employer implementation.
- Training & Education
- Deliver trainings and workshops for employers, HR teams, EAP staff, and community partners on topics such as:
- Balancing work and caregiving
- Understanding long-term services and supports
- Elder abuse awareness and prevention
- Dementia care
- Caregiver stress and burnout prevention
- Provide presentations at statewide and regional conferences hosted by the Association on Aging in NY.
- Data, Reporting & Evaluation
- Track employer participation, program adoption, and caregiver outcomes as required by the grant funder.
- Produce quarterly and annual reports demonstrating progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Use data to create recommendations for sustainability beyond the grant period.
- Grant Compliance & Collaboration
- Ensure all activities, deliverables, and reporting meet grant requirements.
- Work closely with the Association’s leadership, grant partners, and state agencies to implement the project.
- Support efforts to identify additional funding or partnerships to continue the initiative after the two-year grant ends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Public Health, Human Services, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aging services, caregiver support, human services, healthcare coordination, or related work.
- Understanding of New York’s aging network, including Area Agencies on Aging, NY Connects, and long-term services and supports.
- Experience building partnerships with employers, healthcare systems, or community providers.
- Strong communication, training, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage statewide projects.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report program data.

Position Duration & Funding
This is a two-year, grant-funded position. Continuation beyond the grant period is contingent upon future funding. The successful candidate should be comfortable with grant timelines and deliverables.
